What is Ribose?
Ribose is a type of sugar
normally made in the body from glucose. Ribose plays
important roles in the synthesis of RNA, DNA, and the
energy-containing substance adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
According to preliminary animal and human research, ribose
supplementation speeds up regeneration of ATP in muscle
cells of the heart or elsewhere in the body when those cells
have been deprived of oxygen.
Benefits
Amino acids functiSupplemental
ribose can help the heart rebuild energy. Ribose may help
dramatically improve the quality of life for persons
suffering from certain cardiac challenges, and research
shows it has a direct effect on heart function for persons
struggling with ischemia.
Many athletes experience anoxia (low oxygen) as the result
of intense physical exercise. Supplemental ribose helps
rebuild the body's energy level. When anoxia occurs, ATP
levels (energy levels) are lowered, cells then do not have
enough oxygen to use the ATP, and energy is degraded and
then lost, washed away into the bloodstream.
Ribose increases both new
growth and helps repair of necessary components for cellular
function in heart and skeletal muscle.
Side Effects?
Reported minor side effects include diarrhea,
gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, and headache. |
